Mauritania's constitutional council sets August 1 for president Ghazouani's inauguration

The Constitutional Council of Mauritania has officially announced that President-elect Mohamed Ould Ghazouani will be inaugurated for his second term on August 1. This decision was confirmed today, Thursday, by the Council’s Secretary General, Ibneta Bent El Khaleess.

“The new term for President-elect Ghazouani will commence on August 2, immediately following the conclusion of his current term,” stated Bent El Khaleess, underscoring the procedural transition.

Ghazouani secured his re-election by winning 56.12% of the vote in the elections held on June 29. His victory marks the continuation of his leadership, which began with his initial term.

The re-election process was closely watched both domestically and internationally, with Ghazouani’s administration being seen as a stabilizing force in the region.
