Cape Verdean president congratulates Biden and American people on independence day

On the occasion of the 248th anniversary of the United States’ Independence Day, President José Maria Neves of Cape Verde extended his heartfelt congratulations to U.S. President Joe Biden and the American people.

It was during this period that the first Cape Verdeans traveled to America on North American whaling ships.

“Since then, this community, which is our largest and one of the most dynamic in our vast diaspora, has been a significant driver of the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between our peoples.

The United States is one of Cape Verde’s primary development partners,” the statement read.
