Tunisia has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of the Syrian people and preserving Syria’s sovereignty as a unified and independent state, according to a statement issued on Monday by the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Amid escalating events in Syria, the Tunisian government emphasized its firm stance on distinguishing between the state and the political system operating within it.
“The political system is a purely Syrian matter that must be decided by the sovereign Syrian people alone, who have the exclusive right to determine their destiny without any foreign interference,” the statement read.
The ministry called on all Syrian parties to prioritize the nation’s greater good, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding Syria’s security, independence, territorial integrity, and stability.
It further highlighted the necessity of achieving a peaceful political transition that maintains the continuity of the state while addressing the aspirations of the Syrian people.
Tunisia’s appeal comes as the country continues to stress non-intervention and support for sovereign decision-making within Syria, advocating for a collective effort to ensure a stable and prosperous future.
