Eritrean diaspora rallies worldwide to strengthen national unity and development

Eritreans living across the globe have launched a coordinated series of initiatives aimed at bolstering national unity and deepening their contributions to the development of their homeland.
In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Eritrean community convened its 9th Congress on April 25, where members reflected on achievements and obstacles since the last session.
“Various developments and challenges had been encountered between the 8th and 9th congresses,” stated Mr. Abdurahman Imam, Chairman of the community.
“It is important to preserve achievements and address challenges to realize the community’s shared vision.”
Participants at the event elected new members to lead both the central and executive committees.
Ms. Weini Gerezgihier, Chargé d’Affaires at the Eritrean Embassy, emphasized the importance of empowering youth and preserving national unity.
“Strengthening organizational capacity is vital in nurturing national unity and empowering competent youth,” she said.
In South Sudan, a conference was held by members of the Eritrean community, the YPFDJ, the National Union of Eritrean Women, and water truck owners.
Discussions centered on national priorities and development programs.
“Strengthening organizational capacity is foundational for implementing established programs,” stressed Mr. Yohannes Teklemicael, Eritrea’s Ambassador to South Sudan, urging a unified focus on national interests.
Meanwhile, in the United Arab Emirates, nationals held a seminar addressing the state of education in Eritrea.
Mr. Mohammed Mahmud, Eritrea’s Consul General, detailed the government’s efforts in education and encouraged the diaspora to support the Assab boarding school initiative.
The national committee of Eritreans in the Central and Western United States gathered in Indianapolis for its annual conference.
Delegates evaluated public diplomacy strategies and outlined initiatives for 2025. Ms. Hadinet Keleta, Head of Public and Community Affairs at the Eritrean Embassy, delivered a seminar on civic engagement.
Commending the Eritrean community, Ms. Ruth Morales, a representative from the Indianapolis Mayor’s Office, applauded their discipline and organizational strength.
The ‘Adal’ School in North Carolina was honored for fostering cultural identity among young Eritreans.
Elsewhere, Eritreans in Austria and France held seminars and pledged ongoing support to national development efforts, particularly in education.
From the Gulf to North America and Europe, these initiatives underscore the Eritrean diaspora’s unwavering commitment to national solidarity and progress.
