Burkina Faso: Military conducts airstrikes on terrorists in northwest

Recent days have seen intense airstrikes by the Burkinabe military targeting a hill held by terrorists in the Boucle du Mouhoun region, northwest of the country, as reported by local media on Friday.

According to the official AIB news agency, the military offensive commenced on Monday when aircraft identified terrorists on a rocky hill in the area.

The army stated that several terrorists were “neutralized” in these strikes.

Since 2015, insecurity has plagued this West African nation, resulting in numerous fatalities and displacing thousands.

The military, alongside its allies, the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), has been actively conducting operations against terrorist groups in the region.

The Boucle du Mouhoun region has been a focal point of terrorist activities, with armed groups exploiting its rugged terrain for their operations.

The recent airstrikes mark a continued effort by Burkina Faso’s armed forces to combat the persistent threat posed by these extremist elements.
