Angola president commends Cape Verde on 49 years of independence

President João Lourenço of Angola has extended his congratulations to Cape Verde on the occasion of its 49th anniversary of independence from Portugal. In a message conveyed to his counterpart José Maria das Neves, President Lourenço praised the democratic achievements of Cape Verde.

The official statement from the Presidency’s Press Center highlighted President Lourenço’s commitment to further strengthening the cooperative and friendly relations between Angola and Cape Verde.

“Angola will continue to work in conjunction with efforts aimed at enhancing cooperation and friendship between our two peoples and countries,” affirmed President Lourenço in his message to President das Neves.

Cape Verde officially gained independence from Portugal on July 5, 1975, marking a significant milestone in its history and paving the way for its development as an independent nation.

The relationship between Angola and Cape Verde has been characterized by mutual respect and collaboration across various sectors, including economic, cultural, and political domains.
