Underscoring Senegal’s critical role as a cornerstone in China-Africa engagement, Xi emphasized the growing importance of initiatives that support modernization across the continent.
“China stands ready to work closely with Senegal to advance the 10 China-Africa partnership actions to jointly promote modernization and carry out more projects for the well-being of the people,” he said, noting the encouragement of Chinese investment in Senegal’s new energy and digital infrastructure sectors.
President Xi also reflected on the historic cooperation between the two nations, recalling their joint leadership of the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Beijing alongside Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
“In September 2025, I co-chaired the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Beijing with my Senegalese counterpart, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, bringing China-Africa relations into a new phase of jointly building a China-Africa community with an all-weather shared future for the new era,” Xi stated.

“China was a reliable partner of Senegal, and bilateral relations were characterized by mutual respect, mutual support, resilience and stability, with solid progress made in various areas of cooperation,” Sonko said, while extending President Faye’s greetings to the Chinese leader.
Sonko also praised China’s efforts to build African capacity and promote development rooted in mutual gain, highlighting a shared vision of stability and long-term partnership.
