The United States Embassy in Kinshasa has officially launched a new public diplomacy initiative titled “Building the Future Together”, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and showcasing decades of multifaceted cooperation between the two nations.
Unveiled on Wednesday, June 18, the campaign seeks to provide transparent insight into America’s extensive engagement in the country.
It highlights milestone achievements across key sectors such as health, agriculture, entrepreneurship, and infrastructure development — all pillars of U.S.-DRC partnership since the central African nation’s independence.
“Through this campaign, we want to tell the story of our shared journey — one built on trust, support, and common aspirations,” a statement from the U.S. Embassy said.
In agriculture, the collaboration has impacted over 607,000 Congolese households by improving crop yields, sustainability, and food security.
In health, the U.S. has been a cornerstone of support, funding the treatment of more than 180,000 Congolese living with HIV/AIDS since 2003.
The U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative alone has provided $600 million, benefiting nearly 40% of the population.
Additional investments have targeted the prevention and control of Ebola and Mpox outbreaks, bringing the total U.S. health assistance in the DRC to approximately $900 million.
Entrepreneurship is another focus.
The Academy for Women Entrepreneurs, a U.S.-based initiative operating in the DRC, provides training programs designed to empower Congolese women and equip them with the skills needed to launch and grow their businesses.
On the economic front, the U.S. has committed $4 billion to projects tied to the Lobito Corridor — a strategic infrastructure and mineral value chain project linking Angola to the DRC and Zambia — aimed at boosting trade and regional integration.
Coinciding with the reopening of the American Center in Kinshasa, the campaign underscores Washington’s long-term commitment to fostering a strong, sovereign, and economically resilient Democratic Republic of Congo.
