Tunisia has unveiled a pioneering digital platform that enables real-time monitoring of government projects, in a bid to tackle persistent bureaucratic inefficiencies and reinvigorate public investment as a driver of economic growth.
Announced on Monday, the initiative marks a significant shift in how public works and infrastructure developments will be tracked and managed across the country.
The platform, developed as part of a broader national strategy, is intended to boost transparency, improve efficiency, and foster public accountability.
The launch comes in anticipation of Tunisia’s 2026–2030 National Development Plan, a roadmap that has been built through an inclusive and participatory process.
Stakeholders at the local, regional, and national levels were actively involved in its formulation to ensure effective policy planning and execution.
By offering stakeholders—from government officials to ordinary citizens—direct access to the progress of public projects, the digital tool is expected to reduce delays, curb mismanagement, and enhance trust in public institutions.
The platform allows for real-time updates, flagging any deviations from budget or timelines, and helping authorities respond proactively to emerging issues.
“This digital monitoring system reflects a broader commitment to modern governance,” said a government spokesperson, underscoring the urgency of institutional reform to align with global standards of public administration.
The move has been widely welcomed by development partners and civil society groups, who see it as a long-overdue step toward greater government transparency and efficiency.
Economists believe that increased visibility and accountability could also attract further investment, both domestic and foreign, by reducing risk and uncertainty in Tunisia’s public sector landscape.
As the country prepares to implement the new five-year plan, the platform is set to become a cornerstone of Tunisia’s drive toward more effective governance, improved service delivery, and accelerated development outcomes.
