More than 20 countries from across Africa, the Arab world, and Europe are taking part in the second edition of the International African Food Industries Exhibition, which kicked off on Thursday in Hammamet, a key northeastern Tunisian coastal city.
Held under the theme “Food Sovereignty in Africa: Solutions and Possible Partnerships,” the two-day event is organized under the auspices of Tunisia’s Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries, as well as the Ministry of Trade and Export Development.
Farid Al-Tounssi, general advisor for this year’s event, noted during the opening that 150 exhibitors from Tunisia and abroad are showcasing their products.
Over 250 guests representing 20 nations—including Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Nigeria, the Republic of Congo, France, Italy, and Turkey—are in attendance.
Al-Tounssi highlighted that the exhibition serves as a platform for strengthening international partnerships in investment and export within the food industry sector.
It also aims to foster networking to address the impact of climate change on food sovereignty and enhance collaboration for greater food security across nations.
“This economic demonstration focuses on deepening cooperation to secure food safety and resilience for our populations,” Al-Tounssi remarked.
This year’s session features the presentation of key products from participating institutions representing Tunisia, the Arab world, Africa, and Europe.
The showcase highlights the diversity and latest innovations within their respective areas of expertise.
The program includes three international forums covering topics such as food sovereignty in Africa, global partnerships in the food industry, and export market opportunities.
