A young woman’s life was tragically lost in Thio, a town in Benin’s Glazoué commune, following a secret abortion performed by an unqualified man posing as a medical specialist.
The harrowing incident, which unfolded just days ago, has prompted authorities to launch a judicial investigation.
According to reports from local media, the main suspect — who has no recognized medical credentials — carried out the procedure at the behest of the alleged father of the unborn child, who remains at large.
Initial evidence suggests that this man was involved in orchestrating the abortion alongside the accused.
The woman reportedly died due to complications during the illegal operation. In a desperate attempt to conceal the tragedy, the two men allegedly buried her body in a remote area.
