Suzuki’s Libyan distributor launches major investment hub in misrata free zone

Libya’s official Suzuki distributor, Tamer Hind Company for the Import of Cars and Various Means of Transportation, has begun developing a major logistics and operations hub within the Misrata Free Zone (MFZ), according to a statement released on Wednesday, July 23.
The project spans a three-hectare site and is set to include paved storage yards and purpose-built warehouses for the management and storage of spare parts.
Once completed, the new facility will serve as the company’s primary center for logistics coordination, vehicle maintenance, staff training, and after-sales services across the region.
“The site will be a major centre for the company to manage its logistics operations, and provide maintenance, training and after-sales services in the future,” MFZ stated.
The Misrata Free Zone, which has quickly emerged as a strategic gateway for global commerce in North Africa, continues to attract major international players.
MFZ highlighted that its infrastructure and streamlined services offer an ideal environment for manufacturers, distributors, and logistics firms seeking to establish operations in Libya.
MFZ also emphasized its state-of-the-art digital infrastructure, advanced communication and surveillance networks, and efficient port handling capabilities—especially for roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vessels transporting vehicles and machinery.
“The zone provides one of the most important destinations and facilities for major manufacturers, agents and distributors from around the world to localise their investments, especially in the fields of trade and warehousing,” the Free Zone authority said.
The announcement comes amid a broader push to position Misrata as a key economic engine in post-conflict Libya, offering international firms a secure and well-connected platform for regional expansion.
