Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (Ucad) has marked a significant academic milestone with an outstanding 96.2% success rate in the 2025 Inter-African Consultative Committees (CCI) of the African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education (CAMES).
This achievement, announced in a recent press release, represents the highest rate recorded by Ucad in nearly a decade.
Out of 106 applications submitted by teacher-researchers across various higher education and research grades, 102 candidates were deemed eligible.
This figure reflects a remarkable improvement compared to the 88.5% success rate achieved in 2023, underscoring both the quality of Ucad’s academic staff and the effectiveness of its support systems.
Several specialized committees reported perfect results, with disciplines such as Medicine, Legal and Political Sciences, Physical and Sports Activities Sciences and Technology (STAPS), Engineering Sciences, Agronomy, and Management all boasting a 100% success rate.
The Arts and Humanities committee also performed strongly, achieving a 97.1% pass rate.
When broken down by academic rank, the university’s performance remains impressive. Candidates seeking promotion to Full Professor, Assistant Professor, and Research Fellow all succeeded in their applications. However, the success rate for the rank of Research Professor was lower, standing at 50%.
These results reinforce Ucad’s reputation as a leading institution in the French-speaking African higher education landscape.
They not only highlight the university’s academic excellence but also its ongoing commitment to nurturing and advancing research talent in the region.
As Ucad continues to build on this momentum, its achievements serve as a beacon of progress and ambition for universities across the continent.
