Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye departed Dakar on Friday for an official diplomatic tour, with visits scheduled to Togo and Liberia as part of a regional engagement initiative.
The first stop of the tour will take President Faye to Lomé, the capital of the Togolese Republic, where he will undertake a 24-hour working visit. The trip follows an official invitation from Togo’s Council of Ministers President, Faure Gnassingbé Eyadéma.
According to the presidency, the visit underscores the growing bilateral cooperation between Senegal and Togo, with key discussions expected to focus on regional stability, economic partnerships, and joint development initiatives across West Africa.
Following his stop in Lomé, President Faye will travel to Monrovia on Saturday, 26 July 2025. There, he will participate in celebrations marking Liberia’s 178th anniversary of national independence.
The invitation was extended by Liberian President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, highlighting the enduring diplomatic ties between the two nations.
This regional tour represents one of President Faye’s early high-profile foreign engagements since taking office, reflecting Senegal’s renewed commitment to deepening strategic relationships across the West African subregion.
