Rehabilitated sports facilities unveiled at Dion Robert de Man high school in Ivory Coast
Three newly renovated sports courts at the Dion Robert de Man modern high school are set to be inaugurated on Thursday, July 17, marking a key step in revitalizing school sports infrastructure across Ivory Coast.
The courts—dedicated to volleyball, basketball, and handball—have been fully refurbished by the Ivorian Office of School and University Sports (OISSU), an institution committed to promoting student athletics under improved conditions.
The unveiling ceremony will be led by Silas Metch Adjé, Minister Delegate for Sports and the Living Environment.
During a press briefing held on July 1 in Abidjan, OISSU’s Director General, Adama Doumbia, confirmed the works were nearing completion. “We are currently at 95%,” he stated, adding that the facility would be delivered before the end of the month, in alignment with the schedules of all involved stakeholders.
Initiated in March 2025, the project has been part of a broader strategy to modernize physical education environments in Ivorian schools.
This latest initiative follows a series of recent renovations across the country. On March 23, the football field at Treichville modern high school was officially reopened.
Similarly, on June 26, a full suite of courts for handball, basketball, and volleyball was inaugurated at Bouaflé high schools 1 and 2.
The effort to upgrade school sports grounds is in line with a vision promoted by Minister Silas Metch Adjé, who has urged all institutions under his jurisdiction to embrace the philosophy of “changing the situation through sport.”
The slogan has become a rallying cry for infrastructural improvements designed to foster youth development, well-being, and athletic excellence through enhanced sports environments.
The Dion Robert de Man high school project is expected to significantly boost student participation in sports and contribute to cultivating a healthier, more dynamic school culture in the Man region.
