NIA On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, the Patriotic Solidarity Fund for the Safeguarding of the Homeland (FSSP) received a financial boost exceeding 4 million CFA francs, reaffirming national unity in Niger’s ongoing struggle against terrorism.
Brah Amadou, Vice President of the FSSP Management Committee, accepted the contributions during a brief ceremony in Niamey.
Among the major donors was the Nigerien Insurers’ Committee, which presented a cheque for 4,271,800 CFA francs.
This amount represents cumulative deductions of 100 CFA francs per policyholder collected throughout the month of May, showcasing the insurance sector’s unified commitment to national defense.
In addition to the financial contribution, the communications company Mel-Plus offered a practical donation in the form of a loudspeaker valued at 240,000 CFA francs, intended to support public outreach and mobilization efforts.
Created under Ordinance No.
23-13, issued on October 11, 2023, the Patriotic Solidarity Fund was established to gather financial resources in support of the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Homeland.
Its mission is to bolster Niger’s response to terrorist threats and enhance national security across the country.
“This gesture is a reflection of the solidarity and shared responsibility felt by the private sector and civil society toward the defense of our homeland,” said Brah Amadou during the handover.
The contributions come at a time when Niger continues to battle persistent insecurity in parts of the country.
Authorities have emphasized the importance of domestic support as a pillar of the national resistance strategy.
The FSSP has emerged as a symbol of collective patriotism in Niger, rallying individuals and institutions alike behind the effort to preserve peace and sovereignty.
With continued public engagement, the fund hopes to serve not only as a financial resource but also as a testament to the resilience of the Nigerien people.
