More than 100,000 women across Kenya, Uganda, and Nigeria are set to benefit from a groundbreaking micro-learning initiative launched by online recruitment platform BrighterMonday Kenya in partnership with ed-tech company Arifu.
The programme, dubbed #BeaBossLady, is tailored to empower women aged between 18 and 35 by equipping them with essential skills in digital literacy, financial management, career development, and entrepreneurship.
The free courses are delivered via WhatsApp, allowing participants to learn flexibly, even in low-connectivity environments.
“At BrighterMonday, we believe that by uplifting women, we uplift entire communities,” said Chris Otundo, CEO of BrighterMonday Kenya.
“The #BeaBossLady initiative aims to provide women with the practical skills and confidence they need to increase their income, secure meaningful employment, and make informed financial decisions.”
The initiative responds to persistent challenges facing women in African job markets, including limited access to upskilling opportunities and digital tools.
By addressing these barriers, the programme aims to foster greater economic inclusion and gender equity in the workplace.
Craig Heintzman, CEO and Co-founder of Arifu, highlighted the role of technology in bridging educational gaps. “We are thrilled to support the #BeaBossLady initiative with our AI-enabled learning platform,” he said.
“This program aligns with our mission to make quality education accessible to underserved communities, and we believe it will drive meaningful impact for women across Africa.
By delivering courses directly to their phones, we’re providing an opportunity that removes traditional barriers to education, whether it’s geography, time, or cost.”
The curriculum also includes training in soft skills, digital sales, and social media marketing strategies, aligning with evolving market demands. The courses are designed to be concise, interactive, and immediately applicable in both professional and entrepreneurial settings.
With a growing emphasis on youth and female empowerment, the #BeaBossLady programme represents a significant step toward building a more inclusive digital economy across the continent.
