Speaking to a vibrant gathering of young Nigerians in Abuja, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu issued a powerful call for the nation’s youth to harness digital technology as a catalyst for civic engagement and national progress.
Addressing the Progressive Digital Media Summit on Thursday, Tinubu emphasized that digital tools should serve not merely as platforms for personal expression but as instruments for social and economic transformation.
He urged young people to leverage their digital presence to tackle Nigeria’s pressing challenges, foster digital literacy, and cultivate a culture of accountability across all sectors.
“Your mission is clear: use your digital tools to solve problems, mentor other young people and reflect the best of Nigeria,” the president declared, affirming that the youth remain “the nation’s greatest investment.”
Tinubu praised the energy, creativity, and dedication of Nigerian youth, describing these qualities as vital assets for the country’s future. His message combined both responsibility and optimism, encouraging young Nigerians not to wait for permission before taking bold action.
“May your digital footprints bear witness to a generation that did not wait for permission to lead, but rose up with courage and lucidity,” he said.
The president highlighted that while many factors will shape Nigeria’s path to prosperity, “none will be as decisive as the choices of those who dare to imagine and have the skills to build.”
With this rallying call, Tinubu challenged the younger generation to become architects of Nigeria’s digital future, using innovation and technology to drive inclusive growth and development in Africa’s most populous nation.
