Musa Nimrod has been re-elected as president of the Nigerian Volleyball Federation (NVBF), securing a second term without opposition and receiving widespread consensus from the federation’s members.
The engineer-turned-sports administrator has led the NVBF with a focus on developing volleyball nationwide, prioritising youth training programs, strengthening local competitions, and ensuring Nigeria’s consistent participation in international tournaments.
“Nimrod’s leadership has brought structure and visibility to Nigerian volleyball,” officials said. “His re-election provides an opportunity to consolidate past achievements and address ongoing challenges, including the professionalisation of domestic leagues and the enhancement of national team performance.”
The election took place on Monday, 22 September, at the Moshood Abiola Stadium gymnasium in Abuja. As the sole candidate, Nimrod’s reappointment was confirmed unanimously, marking a continuation of the federation’s strategic plans for the 2024-2025 olympiad cycle.
Under Nimrod’s guidance, the NVBF has implemented several initiatives to expand grassroots participation, improve coaching standards, and foster talent pipelines capable of competing at the continental and global levels. His administration has also worked to increase visibility for volleyball across Nigeria, promoting tournaments that combine competitive play with community engagement.
Observers note that this renewed mandate could be decisive for the future of Nigerian volleyball, particularly in enhancing the professional environment of domestic championships and providing the national teams with resources to achieve greater success internationally.
Musa Nimrod’s re-election underscores the confidence of the volleyball community in his vision and leadership, reflecting a broader commitment to elevating the sport within Nigeria and positioning it for regional and global competitiveness in the years ahead.
With this renewed term, stakeholders anticipate an accelerated push towards professionalisation, improved training facilities, and increased opportunities for young athletes to develop skills and represent Nigeria on the world stage.
The NVBF now enters a critical phase where consistent leadership and strategic planning will be essential in realising the full potential of volleyball across the country.
