In a powerful demonstration of commitment to national unity, Niger officially launched its National Peace Caravan on June 26, 2025, during the 11th edition of the Day of Communes in Zinder.
The initiative, led by General Mohamed Toumba, Minister of State and Minister of Interior, Public Security and Territorial Administration, aims to foster peace, prevent conflict, and strengthen social cohesion across the country.
Speaking at the launch, General Toumba made a solemn appeal to the people of Niger: “Let us cultivate a spirit of tolerance, dialogue, and collective responsibility to ensure peace and social harmony throughout the nation.
” His address emphasized the central role of national cohesion in the country’s reconstruction efforts, aligning closely with the vision laid out by the President of the Republic since July 26, 2023.
The caravan, spearheaded by the Ministry of Interior, is part of a broader strategy to support Niger’s regained sovereignty and counter any efforts to destabilize the nation.
“Only a sacred union around the ideals of justice, solidarity, and peace will anchor the ongoing reforms,” the Minister stressed, calling for unity against all forms of division.
In addition to the official ceremony, General Toumba paid a courtesy visit to His Highness Aboubakar Sanda Oumarou, Sultan of Damagaram.
The meeting served as a symbolic gesture to reinforce ties between republican authorities and traditional leaders—key custodians of peace and social stability in Niger.
By launching the National Peace Caravan, Niger’s leadership has sent a clear message: the path to sustainable development lies in unity, dialogue, and shared responsibility.
As the caravan makes its way across the country, it carries with it a mission of hope, resilience, and a collective commitment to a peaceful and sovereign future.
