Net5.5G pioneer award marks breakthrough in network advancements for Maghreb region

The Net5.5G Pioneer Award ceremony was a key highlight of the “Accelerating Net5.5G, Toward Intelligence” summit, held during the 10th Ultra-Broadband Forum (UBBF 2024).

Jointly organized by the United Nations Broadband Commission, the World Broadband Association (WBBA), and Huawei, the event underscored transformative advancements in network technology across the Arab and African regions.

The award, presented by the Arab Information and Communication Technology Organization (AICTO) and the IPv6 Forum, recognized outstanding achievements in innovation and commercial deployment of Net5.5G technology.

Key technologies like 400GE, SRv6, and network slicing have become central to this evolution.

In May 2024, at the Africa IP GALA, AICTO and the IPv6 Forum launched the first Net5.5G & IPv6 innovation competition for the Arab and African regions.

This initiative encouraged operators to design and deploy these cutting-edge technologies, facilitating the development of new services and enhancing existing networks.

During the Net5.5G Intelligent IP Network Summit at UBBF 2024 in Turkey, industry leaders shared innovative examples of Net5.5G IP network evolution and digital transformation strategies.

These case studies highlighted the global momentum of Net5.5G deployment, showcasing significant enhancements in network quality, operational efficiency, and service growth.

The summit underscored the intensifying digital transformation of industries, unlocking diverse revenue streams and advancing technological innovation.

The Net5.5G Pioneer Award ceremony served as a milestone, honoring four standout operators: GROUPE TELECOM ALGERIE, Libyana Libya, CVT Cape Verde, and Hatif Libya.

These operators were celebrated not only for their Net5.5G deployments but also for setting a benchmark to inspire others to accelerate the adoption of critical Net5.5G technologies, including 400GE, SRv6, network slicing, and digital network mapping.

The event drew the attention of numerous industry professionals and experts, marking a pivotal moment in the promotion of network advancements within the Arab and African regions.
