Morocco has been officially invited to the 13th annual conference on the world economy, titled “BRICS and the Reshaping of the World Economic Order”, set to take place from December 3 to 5, 2025, in Moscow.
The event, hosted by the School of World Economy and the BRICS-Russia Expert Council, will bring together thought leaders and policymakers to discuss the future of international economic relations in an increasingly complex global landscape.
In the wake of escalating trade tensions and tariff restrictions imposed by Western economies, the conference seeks to explore how BRICS members—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—and partner nations can collectively respond to these challenges.
Organizers of the event view it as an important platform for rethinking global economic governance, particularly in light of the ongoing legitimacy crisis at the World Trade Organization (WTO).
A key focus of the conference will be the diversification of monetary systems.
Experts will examine the growing search for alternatives to the US dollar, which has long dominated global trade and financial transactions.
These discussions will assess the political and strategic implications of emerging financial instruments, particularly for economies in the Global South.
Sustainable development beyond 2030 will also be on the agenda. Organizers stress that any vision for sustainability must take into account the economic and technological constraints faced by emerging economies.
In this regard, Morocco, which will be represented by academics and researchers specializing in international economics, will join a distinguished group of countries, including Russia, China, Brazil, South Africa, Turkey, Cuba, Uzbekistan, and Armenia.
The final day of the conference, December 5, will be dedicated to Youth Day, featuring panels where young researchers will present innovative work on global economic governance and South-South cooperation.
This is part of the event’s commitment to fostering new voices and perspectives in the ongoing discourse on international economic development.
The full program and additional details are available on the official website of the Moscow Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, the event’s co-organizer.
As Morocco continues to position itself as a key player in global economic discussions, this conference promises to be a significant moment for shaping the future of international trade and cooperation.
