The fifth edition of the Africa Financial Summit (AFIS) is set to take place in Casablanca on November 3 and 4, 2025, under the theme: “Our capital, our power: let’s unleash Africa’s financial sovereignty,” organizers announced on Thursday.
Launched by Jeune Afrique Media Group in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and supported by leading Moroccan and African financial institutions, the summit will place a spotlight on Africa’s quest for strategic financial autonomy.
According to the organizers’ statement, AFIS 2025 will address key priorities such as mobilizing domestic resources, aligning regulatory frameworks, and laying the foundations for a self-sustaining financial system across the continent—especially in light of a tightening global economic climate.
Stakeholders including pension funds, insurance firms, fintech companies, banks, stock exchanges, and sovereign wealth funds will be called upon to collaborate on financing critical infrastructure, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, mitigating emerging risks, and advancing regional economic integration.
The choice of Casablanca as host city reflects Morocco’s growing influence as a financial hub. Positioned at the intersection of Europe and Africa, the Kingdom has championed regional integration through a resilient financial system, dynamic banking and insurance sectors, and sweeping reforms in taxation, investment, and economic diversification.
Amir Ben Yahmed, President of AFIS, remarked: “This edition in Casablanca embodies the urgency of modernizing our instruments and mobilizing our own capital to direct them towards strategic projects in order to consolidate our economic development.”
He continued: “We must make financial sovereignty the pillar of growth and inclusion on our continent.”
The strategic vision for AFIS 2025 includes unlocking institutional capital by reforming regulatory regimes governing pension and sovereign wealth funds, modernizing insurance frameworks, and transforming fintech and capital markets. A special focus will be placed on fostering interoperability among African regulatory bodies to fully harness the potential of pan-African economic initiatives.
AFIS 2025 is expected to convene more than 1,250 financial leaders and policymakers in Casablanca, aiming to shape a unified path forward based on trust, inclusive growth, and regional leadership in African finance.
