Royal Air Maroc (RAM), in collaboration with Al Barid Bank, has unveiled a pioneering digital solution at Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport, aiming to transform the passenger journey through enhanced convenience and technology.
The innovative system, built around the “Barid Payment Mobile” app and NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, enables travellers to make swift, secure, and contactless payments directly via their bank cards or smartphones.
This cutting-edge service is currently available at three strategic points within the airport: check-in, transit, and boarding.
To support this rollout, more than 24 dedicated agents have been trained to assist passengers, providing additional options such as purchasing preferred “Select Seat” seats, accessing exclusive “Business” lounges, upgrading to Business Class, and enjoying the premium “Loft” service.
Set to expand soon to Paris-Orly Airport, this initiative forms part of Royal Air Maroc’s broader digitalisation strategy aimed at streamlining every stage of the travel experience—from ticket booking right through to baggage delivery.
Hamid Addou, CEO of Royal Air Maroc, highlighted the significance of the project: “This initiative reflects our commitment to providing a seamless, digital experience upon arrival at the airport, as part of a 12-month transformation program.”
Echoing this vision, Al Amine Nejjar, Chairman of the Board of Al Barid Bank, said, “This partnership illustrates our shared desire to innovate in the service of travellers, by offering a secure and efficient mobile payment solution.”
This digital leap marks a key milestone in modernising airport services in Morocco, setting new standards for passenger convenience and safety while reinforcing the country’s position as a leader in aviation innovation.
