The coastal city of Assilah is preparing to welcome more than 350 figures from the worlds of diplomacy, literature, art and media as it hosts the fall edition of the 46th International Cultural Season from 26 September to 12 October.
Held under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI, the event is organised by the Assilah Forum Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication and the city’s municipality.
It has become one of Morocco’s most prominent cultural gatherings, attracting global attention for over four decades.
This year’s edition will open with a tribute to the late Mohamed Ben Aïssa, founder of the Forum and the driving force behind Assilah’s rise as a cultural and intellectual landmark on the international stage.
The programme promises a wide range of activities. Symposia will explore themes such as the Atlantic Initiative and the visual arts, while Moroccan artist Abdelkrim Ouazzani will be honoured for his career. Literature and poetry will also feature strongly, with the presentation of the 13th Tchicaya U Tam’si Prize for African Poetry, alongside book signings by Abdallah Ould Mohamadi, Mohamed Saâd Alami and Mohamed Moazzouz.
Visual arts will take centre stage with exhibitions showcasing Moroccan and international talent. At the same time, workshops in visual arts, theatre, writing and music will engage children and young people, reflecting the intergenerational and educational spirit of the festival.
Since its creation more than forty years ago, the Assilah Forum has provided a space for dialogue between cultures and the promotion of Morocco’s artistic influence. Organisers say the 2025 edition aims to extend this legacy by reaffirming Assilah’s role as a hub for global cultural exchange.
