Moroccan medical and food aid has arrived in Gaza, offering critical relief amid an intensifying humanitarian crisis worsened by the Israeli blockade and ongoing violence.
Trucks bearing the Moroccan flag and the emblem of the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity were seen delivering supplies in Gaza’s streets, according to footage released by Bayt Mal Al-Quds news agency.
Aid included baby food, canned goods, flour, and fruit, unloaded at storage centres in Deir el-Balah, a city in central Gaza.
This assistance comes at a moment of profound suffering.
Gaza’s population faces widespread malnutrition and famine, with hospitals struggling to operate and basic necessities scarce and costly.
The blockade has choked essential imports, deepening the crisis.
While Morocco has dispatched several aid shipments recently, humanitarian organisations warn that the volume remains far below what is urgently needed.
The Gaza government’s press office reported only 85 aid trucks entered the enclave yesterday, many of which were reportedly looted before reaching those in need. Both the press office and the United Nations estimate that between 500 and 600 trucks are required daily to meet humanitarian needs, prevent looting, and alleviate skyrocketing prices caused by shortages.
This target has yet to be met since aid access was finally granted after a prolonged siege.
The security situation remains dire. The Gaza Health Ministry reported that at least 135 Palestinians were killed by Israeli attacks in the last 24 hours, including 87 awaiting aid. Additionally, 771 people were wounded. Hunger-related deaths also continue to climb, with five people dying from starvation in the same period—raising the total to 193, including 96 children.
The ministry confirmed three more bodies were recovered from the rubble of earlier bombings. Since Israel introduced a new aid distribution system through the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation on May 27, 1,655 people seeking aid have been killed and over 11,800 injured, highlighting the brutal conditions facing civilians.
Morocco’s aid delivers a vital lifeline, but with the scale of need so vast and violence ongoing, the crisis in Gaza remains a stark and urgent challenge for the international community.
