Moroccan royal navy expands aerial capabilities with new bell 412EP helicopter

The Royal Moroccan Navy is set to boost its aerial capabilities with the arrival of a second Bell 412EP multi-mission helicopter, further enhancing its operational readiness.

This addition marks a significant step in Morocco’s ongoing efforts to modernize its aerial fleet, as the Bell 412EP, produced by American manufacturer Bell Textron Inc., is considered an advanced evolution of the Bell 212 model.

With its four-blade composite rotor, the Bell 412EP offers greater stability and is designed to perform effectively under a variety of weather conditions.

The helicopter is powered by two robust engines, allowing it to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

This makes it a valuable asset for the Royal Moroccan Navy’s diverse range of operations.

The Bell 412 series has a long-standing history, with its first test flight taking place in 1979, and it officially entered service in 1981.

Over the years, the series has seen various upgrades, including the 412SP model with increased fuel capacity and the 412HP with enhanced transport capabilities.

The Bell 412EP, the latest in the series, comes equipped with a digital automatic flight control system, providing superior precision in its operations.

As part of its military modernization strategy, Morocco has been actively enhancing its defense capabilities.

In a related development, the U.S. Department of Defense approved the sale of 40 AGM-154C Joint Standoff Weapons (JSOW) to Morocco in September.

These missiles, valued at $250 million, will equip the Moroccan Air Force’s F-16 fighter jets, significantly enhancing their strike capabilities.

The agreement includes support services and equipment to ensure the seamless integration of these advanced weapons into Morocco’s military arsenal.

This initiative underscores Morocco’s commitment to addressing modern security challenges through the continuous upgrading of its military hardware.
