Marrakech, the iconic “Red City” of Morocco, has been named the most affordable destination for an autumn escape, according to a new ranking by car rental platform DiscoverCar.
The city has outshined other major European cities, earning the top spot thanks to its attractive value for money and favorable weather conditions, making it an ideal spot for budget-conscious travelers.
DiscoverCar’s ranking considered several key factors, including the average cost of a week-long hotel stay, car rental prices, and the availability and quality of restaurants and hotels.
Marrakech scored an impressive 108 out of 144, positioning it as the leading choice for a cost-effective city break.
The average cost for a week-long hotel stay in Marrakech is estimated at just €198, the lowest among the destinations analyzed.
In addition, renting a car in the city for a week costs an average of €64, offering further savings for travelers keen on exploring the city at their own pace.
Beyond its financial appeal, Marrakech also boasts pleasant weather, particularly during the autumn months.
With average temperatures hovering around 19 degrees Celsius between September and November, visitors can comfortably explore the city’s rich cultural and historical sites.
While other European cities made the list, none could match Marrakech’s affordability.
Seville in Spain secured the second spot, followed by Lisbon, Madrid, and Barcelona.
Other popular destinations such as Venice, Budapest, Rome, Florence, and Bruges rounded out the top ten, each offering unique attractions but at a slightly higher cost.
Marrakech’s combination of low costs and inviting weather makes it not just a budget-friendly destination, but also a richly rewarding one.
From its vibrant souks and stunning palaces to its world-renowned cuisine, Marrakech offers an accessible gateway to North African culture and hospitality, all without breaking the bank.
