More than 295 million CFA francs will be invested to upgrade road infrastructure in the commune of Misseni, located in the Kadiolo circle, by the end of 2025, according to the local mayor.
The project, which aims to rehabilitate nearly 100 kilometres of road within the commune, is expected to significantly improve access to and from Misseni. The mayor confirmed that funding for the works was mobilised from revenues generated through local gold mining activities.
Local residents have expressed optimism that the new road network will bring wide-ranging benefits to the community.
They believe the improved infrastructure will ease the transportation of agricultural and market garden produce to surrounding urban centres, boosting local commerce and reducing post-harvest losses.
Beyond the economic impact, the roads are also anticipated to enhance access to healthcare, particularly in emergency cases requiring medical evacuation.
Communities that were previously isolated during the rainy season will now be connected year-round, improving both mobility and quality of life.
The project marks a major step forward for Misseni, where rural infrastructure has long posed challenges to development. Farmers and traders, in particular, are expected to benefit from the smoother, more reliable routes.
As part of broader regional development plans, this initiative highlights how revenue from natural resources, when managed transparently, can be channelled into essential public services and infrastructure.
Residents say they hope the government and local authorities will maintain this momentum and continue investing in roads, schools, and health centres using similar models.
