Libyan business leader urges Egyptian jirms to Join libya’s reconstruction drive and industrial revival

Saleh Al-Obeidi, head of the Libyan delegation at the Egyptian-Libyan Business Forum, has called on Egyptian companies to take an active role in Libya’s post-conflict reconstruction efforts and in the localization of key industries.
Speaking during the forum’s fourth edition in Alexandria under the theme “Egypt and Libya Towards Integrated Sustainable Development,” Al-Obeidi stressed the strategic importance of deepening economic cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.
“The General Union of Libyan Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture is working hard to promote trade and investment between Libya and Egypt,” he said.
“This forum represents an opportunity to exchange expertise and strengthen partnerships between our companies in our two countries.”
Highlighting the critical reconstruction phase currently underway in Libya, Al-Obeidi emphasized the need for Egyptian expertise in a range of sectors.
“With the help of major Egyptian companies, we are transferring expertise and modern technology in the fields of infrastructure, roads, and public housing,” he explained.
He added that Libya offers vast potential in the localization of industry, large-scale agricultural projects, and tourism. “There are significant opportunities that can be seized in the coming period, not only to rebuild but to transform Libya’s economic base,” Al-Obeidi noted.
The Libyan delegation head expressed optimism that the forum would result in practical outcomes.
“We hope the forum will produce recommendations and work plans that we can implement together to make real progress,” he said. “It’s time to move from dialogue to action.”
The Egyptian-Libyan Business Forum continues to serve as a vital platform for fostering bilateral economic integration and sustainable growth, with both nations eager to convert their long-standing political ties into concrete development achievements.
