In a statement released on Sunday, the Libyan government announced that the strategy encompasses 174 projects and 65 programs designed to enhance the nation’s food security.
The initiative aims to address critical challenges facing Libya and bolster the country’s agricultural and production capacities.
Speaking at the approval ceremony, Prime Minister Dbeibah emphasized the central importance of food security to Libya’s stability.
“Food security is an absolute national priority and a cornerstone of our country’s economic and social stability,” he declared.
The Prime Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to mobilizing the resources needed to implement the ambitious strategy.
“This initiative is dedicated to strengthening local production, achieving food self-sufficiency, and building a sustainable food system for future generations,” he added.
The strategy also seeks to integrate efforts between the government and private sectors, creating a unified approach to overcoming obstacles and ensuring successful implementation.
Dbeibah urged all stakeholders to collaborate closely in realizing the nation’s food security goals.
Libya’s reliance on food imports has long been a point of vulnerability, exacerbated by years of political instability and conflict.
The new strategy aims to reduce this dependency by investing in agricultural infrastructure, enhancing irrigation systems, and supporting local farmers.
By aligning its focus on sustainability and self-reliance, Libya aims to fortify its economic foundations and safeguard the well-being of its citizens.
This strategy represents a critical milestone in the country’s broader efforts to rebuild and secure its future.
