Libya is currently experiencing a blend of relatively mild conditions in its northern regions alongside intense heat in the south, according to the National Center of Meteorology’s forecast for the coming three days starting Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
The meteorological outlook highlights stable summer weather marked by notable coastal humidity.
Northern areas stretching from Ras Jedir to Sirte, including the Jefara Plain and Nafusa Mountains, are expected to see partly cloudy skies with moderate winds blowing from the northwest to northeast. Daytime temperatures will hover between 29°C and 34°C, offering some relief from the intense heat prevalent elsewhere.
Further east, the Gulf region and Benghazi plains extending to Amsaid will also experience partly cloudy conditions.
The Green Mountains could witness light rainfall, while coastal zones may face periods of moderate northwesterly winds. Temperatures here are projected to peak between 28°C and 33°C.
In stark contrast, southern and southwestern parts of Libya, including Al-Jufra, Sabha, Ghat, Ghadames, and Hamada, will endure much hotter conditions.
The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies punctuated by scattered thunderstorms during the evenings.
Winds in these areas will vary from light to moderate southeasterly and easterly, occasionally intensifying near Ghadames and Hamada.
Daytime highs are expected to climb between 38°C and 43°C, underscoring the severity of the southern heat.
Oases and desert regions such as Sarir, Tazerbo, and Kufra will see clear to partly cloudy skies with moderate winds from the north to northeast, sometimes increasing in strength.
Temperatures in these areas are forecast between 38°C and 41°C.
Looking ahead, the meteorological center anticipates a slight temperature rise early next week, particularly affecting the northwest, interior regions, and Ghadames.
This subtle warming trend suggests that Libyans should prepare for continued summer heat with regional variations in humidity and temperature extremes.
