Libya’s Minister of Labour and Rehabilitation, Ali Al-Abed, met today with Qatar’s Minister of Labour, Ali bin Samikh Al-Marri, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in labour development and digital transformation.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Sixth Islamic Conference of Labour Ministers held in Doha.
Both ministers reviewed opportunities to enhance collaboration between their respective ministries in the fields of employment and vocational training.
Discussions also focused on joint efforts to promote youth empowerment policies and expand access to job opportunities.
During the talks, the two sides explored ways to exchange expertise and experiences in developing digital systems to modernise labour markets and improve efficiency in employment services.
The meeting underscored a shared vision of integrating technology into labour governance and boosting workforce capacity across sectors.
Al-Abed expressed his appreciation to Qatar for hosting and organising the conference with what he described as “an outstanding level of professionalism.”
He commended the country’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Islamic cooperation in labour and employment matters.
“Libya is keen to consolidate bilateral relations and exchange technical and professional expertise in ways that serve the common interests of both brotherly nations,” Al-Abed affirmed.
The Sixth Islamic Conference of Labour Ministers, hosted in Doha, brought together officials from across the Islamic world to deliberate on strategies for improving employment, social protection, and labour market digitisation.
Libya’s participation, led by Minister Al-Abed, highlights its growing focus on modernising national labour systems and enhancing regional partnerships.
The discussions between Libya and Qatar are expected to pave the way for new cooperative frameworks, particularly in digital transformation and youth employment initiatives that align with both countries’ development goals.
