In an official announcement issued on Wednesday, the Commission stated that all submissions must be completed by the end of the working day, in accordance with the executive regulations outlined under Resolution No. 43 of 2023.
The HNEC made clear that any candidate who fails to complete the process by the deadline will be automatically regarded as having withdrawn, and their name will be removed from the official list of contenders.
The decision, it added, is designed to maintain order and discipline as the country moves through critical stages of its electoral calendar.
According to the Commission, the endorsement forms serve as a fundamental requirement, demonstrating a candidate’s level of public backing — whether from individual voters or recognised institutions. These forms also act as a benchmark to assess the seriousness and credibility of each nomination.
“Establishing a strict deadline for submitting endorsement forms helps safeguard the integrity of the electoral timeline and prevents disruptions that could undermine transparency and public confidence in the process,” the Commission said.
Officials stressed that the measure reflects HNEC’s commitment to the principles of fair and transparent elections, ensuring that all legal obligations are met ahead of subsequent stages in the electoral process.
By enforcing these regulations, the Commission aims to bolster confidence in Libya’s electoral institutions and reaffirm its dedication to strengthening democratic participation across the country.
The HNEC has urged all candidates to comply fully with the stipulated procedures to avoid disqualification, as the nation prepares for what is expected to be a pivotal electoral contest.
