
The United States Embassy in Monrovia has welcomed Mr. Joe Zadrozny as its new Chargé d’Affaires, following his recent appointment by the US State Department.
A seasoned diplomat, Mr. Zadrozny officially assumed his duties as Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Liberia in July 2025 and took up the post of Chargé d’Affaires in August 2025.
The announcement was made via the embassy’s official social media platforms.
According to the embassy’s statement, Mr. Zadrozny is a career member of the US Senior Foreign Service and brings a wealth of global diplomatic experience to his new role in Liberia. From 2023 to 2025, he served as Management Counselor at the US Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria.
Before that, he held the position of Chargé d’Affaires, ad interim, at the US Embassy in Port Moresby, overseeing diplomatic relations with Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu from April 2022 to August 2023.
His extensive service record also includes a notable tenure as Consul General in Wuhan, China, and previous diplomatic assignments at the US Embassy in Beijing, and the Consulates General in Shanghai and Shenyang.
Mr. Zadrozny’s experience in China spans four postings, reflecting deep engagement with the region.
In addition to his service in Asia, he has held two assignments in Germany — at the US Embassy in Berlin and the Consulate General in Frankfurt.
His career has also taken him to Uzbekistan and Mongolia, and before joining the Foreign Service in 1998, he worked with the Peace Corps, both as a volunteer in Mongolia and as a staff member in Washington and Honiara, Solomon Islands.
Originally from Houston, Texas, Mr. Zadrozny is an alumnus of the University of Notre Dame and holds a master’s degree in strategic studies from the US Army War College. He is multilingual, speaking French, Mandarin Chinese, German, Mongolian, and Russian.
