Liberian digital media entrepreneur and founder of Geez Liberia, Kerkula Blama, has been named “Best Blogger of the Year” at the prestigious 2025 Music Video Africa Awards, held at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos.
The event, which brought together the continent’s leading music executives, creatives, and digital innovators, honoured Blama for his exceptional contribution to African media, particularly his efforts in promoting Liberian entertainment and elevating emerging artists to international audiences.
Blama’s recognition comes on the heels of another major win earlier this year, when he was awarded “Blogger of the Year” at the 2025 Young Achievers Africa Awards in Kigali, Rwanda — a platform that celebrates outstanding young talent across the fields of business, arts, and media.
Sharing his excitement online after receiving the Lagos award, Blama expressed heartfelt appreciation for the Liberian creative community and his growing audience across Africa.
“The love y’all have shown me on the international stage is overwhelming, and I can’t thank y’all enough for the support,” Blama said. “This big win is for me, Geez Liberia and every Liberian. It is also proof that with consistency, creativity, and community, we can shape narratives that go beyond our borders.”
As the force behind Geez Liberia, one of the country’s most influential entertainment platforms, Blama has built a reputation for pioneering engaging digital content and showcasing Liberia’s vibrant cultural scene. His platform, with a substantial and growing following across multiple African countries, continues to spotlight emerging talent and lead conversations around African entertainment.
The recognition from the Music Video Africa Awards has further solidified Blama’s status as a rising figure in West Africa’s digital storytelling space. It also marks a defining moment for Liberia’s expanding role in the continent’s media and entertainment industry.
