Young people from the CIDT district of Ouangolodougou took part in a day of recreation and community-building on Friday, August 29, 2025, aimed at strengthening social cohesion and promoting mutual aid.
The event was organized by the Volunteer Citizen Collective in partnership with the NGO Indigo.
The initiative is part of an ongoing effort to encourage voluntary civic action and active community participation.
“After weeks of collective clearing, sanitation, and road reshaping activities in the neighborhood, members of the Collective organized a day of fun and celebration.
It was an opportunity to invite other young people to join the volunteer team,” explained Zabié Serge, representative of the NGO Indigo.
The day featured a variety of activities designed to bring the community together. Football matches pitted singles against married couples, while volleyball games and dance competitions added to the festive atmosphere.
Fun games engaged participants of all ages, creating an environment where youth could bond and develop a sense of shared responsibility.
Winners of the competitions were awarded school kits, combining enjoyment with practical support for education.
The event not only provided entertainment but also reinforced the values of cooperation, solidarity, and civic engagement within the community.
By promoting volunteerism and active participation, the initiative seeks to foster a culture of social cohesion that extends beyond individual neighborhoods.
It also highlights the role of local youth in shaping and sustaining positive community dynamics.
For residents of Ouangolodougou, the recreational day was more than just entertainment—it represented a step towards a stronger, more united community, where young people play a central role in driving social change and supporting each other.
