CFAO Consumer has announced an ambitious expansion plan in Ivory coast, unveiling ten new supermarket projects aimed at strengthening the national economy and creating hundreds of jobs.
Franck Rouquet, CEO of CFAO Consumer, made the announcement on Thursday, September 25, during the launch of Carrefour Côte d’Ivoire’s tenth anniversary celebrations. The projects will be implemented over the next three to five years in cities including Grand-Bassam, Bouaké, Yamoussoukro, and Grand-Béréby, as well as a major retail outlet planned for Abidjan’s Cocody commune in the second quarter of 2026. The Abidjan store will cover an area of 2,500 m².
According to Rouquet, each project is expected to create between 300 and 400 direct jobs and around 100 indirect positions. “These initiatives will contribute to the economic growth of Côte d’Ivoire, support local producers, train young people, and promote social inclusion,” he said.
Since its arrival in the country, CFAO Consumer has expanded from a single outlet to nine locations across Abidjan, including Marcory, Palmeraie, Yopougon, Riviera, and Deux-Plateaux, combining hypermarkets, supermarkets, and convenience store concepts. The CEO emphasized that the group will continue to support the local economy while providing employment and training opportunities, reinforcing its role as a partner in national development.
Human Resources Director Ghislaine Bohoussou outlined the events planned for Carrefour Côte d’Ivoire’s 10th anniversary, running from September 25 to October 22. Celebrations will include promotional campaigns, competitions with prizes such as cars and motorcycles, a sports day, a “Chill and Chic” evening for employees, as well as digital activities and social media competitions.
The announcement was attended by the company’s Director of Operations, Jean-Marc Dumont, and Head of Communications and Marketing, Audrey Ndjoré, highlighting the group’s commitment to engaging both staff and the wider community in its expansion plans.
The initiative is expected to bolster local employment, stimulate economic activity in regional cities, and strengthen CFAO Consumer’s footprint across Côte d’Ivoire over the coming years.
