The opening weeks of the 2025-2026 school year in Bangolo have been disrupted by a series of burglaries targeting three local schools, with computers and sensitive administrative files reported stolen.
The first incident occurred during the night of 3–4 September at the private Éureka College. Intruders forced entry by breaking doors and windows, dismantled security devices, and accessed the office of the school’s records officer, taking computer equipment and important files.
A second burglary took place on 18–19 September at Boyanaho Private College, where thieves ransacked the director of studies’ office after breaking in. Administrative materials were removed, according to school authorities.
The Lycée de Bangolo also fell victim during the night of 19–20 September. Officials said the perpetrators forced doors to gain entry and stole equipment, though the full inventory of items taken is still being assessed.
These incidents coincide with the start of the school year, when private institutions collect significant registration fees—a factor authorities say may have made the schools attractive targets.
Educators and parents have voiced concerns over the safety of school premises. “We are worried about the protection of both our students and staff,” one administrator said. “It is essential that measures are put in place to ensure a peaceful and productive academic year.”
Local authorities have called for reinforced security measures and increased vigilance to prevent further incidents. Investigations are ongoing, with law enforcement seeking to identify the perpetrators and safeguard school infrastructure.
The burglaries have prompted discussions among school boards, local communities, and officials about the need for stricter security protocols. Stakeholders emphasize the importance of protecting educational environments to maintain focus on learning and ensure a stable start to the academic year.
