As Ivory Coast gears up for its presidential elections on 25 October 2025, authorities have opened 227 secured polling centres across the Vavoua department to facilitate the distribution of voter cards.
The Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) confirmed that these centres are spread across 160 designated voting sites, each under the protection of national police and gendarmerie forces to ensure safety and transparency during the electoral process.
The distribution breakdown includes 64 centres in the commune of Vavoua, 75 in the sub-prefecture of Vavoua, 46 in Dania, and 42 in Séitifla. The voter card distribution began on Saturday, 11 October, and will run until 20 October at 18:00 throughout the national territory.
In Vavoua alone, more than 65,000 cards are ready for collection. At key sites such as the Lycée Moderne de Vavoua, CEI officials have been actively distributing the cards to eligible voters.
The electoral commission has reminded the public that the process is entirely free and strictly personal. Early observations indicate low turnout in the first days of distribution.
“It’s always like this at the start. The turnout usually increases as the deadline approaches,” said local CEI agents, who remain confident that participation will rise in the final days of the process.
As the election date draws near, campaign representatives across the region are increasing efforts to mobilise voters, calling on citizens to collect their cards and be ready to vote.
In parallel, CEI’s local offices are focused on final preparations, including recruiting and training electoral workers to ensure a smooth and orderly voting process.
With logistical operations well underway and security in place, the Vavoua department stands as a central point of readiness in Ivory Coast’s broader electoral framework.
