President Alassane Ouattara will stand for re-election in the upcoming presidential vote on 25 October 2025, the RHDP party confirmed this weekend.
The announcement was made by Louis Serge Tio, departmental secretary of the Rally of Houphouëtists for Democracy and Peace (RHDP) in Guiglo-Nizahon, during a rally held on Saturday, 6 September, in Kabôrôkro, in the sub-prefecture of Kaadé.
The event drew supporters and party militants from nine local communities across the region.
Speaking to the crowd, Mr Tio highlighted that President Ouattara’s candidacy aligns with the decisions taken during recent RHDP congresses, signalling continuity in the party’s leadership and political agenda.
“The president’s candidacy reflects the resolutions and commitments adopted by our party congresses,” Tio said. He called on party members to mobilise behind Ouattara and ensure a strong showing in the election.
The departmental secretary also used the occasion to showcase the developmental initiatives undertaken in the Cavally region, emphasizing the progress made under Ouattara’s leadership. “The actions implemented in Cavally demonstrate the tangible benefits of the president’s policies,” he added, urging the local population to continue supporting the party’s programmes.
The announcement marks the official start of the RHDP’s campaign in the Guiglo-Nizahon area, where party leaders aim to consolidate their base ahead of the national vote. Analysts note that Ouattara’s bid for re-election is expected to dominate the political discourse in the coming weeks, particularly as the country approaches the critical pre-election period.
Party members and local leaders have pledged to coordinate efforts to mobilize voters and communicate the achievements of Ouattara’s administration, framing his candidacy as a continuation of economic and social development initiatives.
With the October vote now officially in sight, the RHDP is preparing a nationwide strategy to secure support for Ouattara, positioning him as the candidate of stability and progress for Ivory Coast.
