With tensions rising in the lead-up to Ivory Coast’s 2025 presidential election, the Demonstration of United Ivorians (DIR) platform has announced the launch of a new civic movement aimed at countering populist rhetoric and reaffirming republican values.
The movement, titled “Enough is Enough for Yourselves”, will officially be unveiled on Saturday, July 26 at Place CP1 in Yopougon.
DIR spokesperson Zadi Djédjé made the announcement during a press conference in the same municipality.
The initiative, he said, directly responds to the “Enough is enough” slogan promoted by former President Laurent Gbagbo and his party, the PPA-CI.
According to Djédjé, that slogan reflects what he described as “confused, provocative, and dangerously populist rhetoric.”
“This is not about partisan bickering,” he clarified.
“It is a civic-minded, republican, and conscious movement.
We are calling for truth, peace, and responsibility.”
Djédjé said the new campaign would stand against what he termed political intoxication, extremist speech, and the erosion of respect for institutions—warning that these trends risk undermining the foundations of democracy.
He accused political rivals of distorting reality to serve personal ambitions.
“There are those who want to make people believe that logic can be reversed, that 6 can be worth 9,” he said, in an apparent reference to what he sees as manipulation of public opinion through demagoguery.
“These are actors without direction, without vision, who rely on noise rather than ideas.”
The movement, Djédjé emphasized, is open to all Ivorians—across social, political, and professional lines.
“This movement is for all peace-loving Ivorians. It transcends partisan divides and speaks to the hearts of the people,” he stated, citing farmers, traders, students, workers, women, and youth among its intended base.
During the press conference, Djédjé also praised the RHDP’s recent 2nd Ordinary Congress, describing it as a “historic popular demonstration” and a show of unity in response to those attempting to “undermine the foundations of the Nation.”
With the official launch just weeks away, Enough is Enough for Yourselves signals the DIR’s broader ambitions to occupy the political centre stage and to rally the country’s “vital forces” around what it views as core republican principles.
As the countdown to elections continues, all eyes will be on Yopougon on July 26, where the DIR’s next steps—and its challenge to populist narratives—will be laid out before the Ivorian public.
