His promotion was confirmed during the 47th session of the Inter-African Consultative Committees of the African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education (CAMES), held from July 7 to 16, 2025, in N’Djamena, Chad.
Professor Koné, who earned his doctorate in Information and Communication Sciences from the University of Bordeaux Montaigne in France, has built an extensive body of academic work.
He has published numerous research papers in national and international journals, contributed to multiple collective volumes, and authored two books. His most recent work, “Socio-digital technologies in Côte d’Ivoire: Forms of political and media engagement,” was released by Editions l’Harmattan in Paris in July 2024.
Specialising in media studies, socio-digital technologies, and political communication and marketing, Professor Koné’s research examines the processes of information and communication in social and cultural contexts, focusing on their technological and societal implications.
His professional career extends beyond academia. He previously served as Director of Communications and Public Relations at the Ministry for the Promotion of Women, Family and Child Protection, and as a Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Planning and Development.
In 2015, Professor Koné founded Club Initiatives, a think tank aimed at fostering democratic culture in schools and universities. Since 2022, he has also led Initiatives Consulting, a communications and strategy advisory firm.
His appointment marks a significant milestone for the Department of Language and Communication Sciences at Alassane Ouattara University, positioning it as a growing hub for research and expertise in media and communication disciplines across Côte d’Ivoire and the wider region.
