In a gesture aimed at supporting local education, the financial district of Duekoué, under the Public Treasury and Accounting of Côte d’Ivoire (TPGCI), distributed 100 school kits to pupils in Toguéhi on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
The initiative, overseen by Olivier Kouaoh Franck, General Treasurer of Duekoué and head of the Duekoué financial district, coincided with celebrations marking the 62nd anniversary of TPGCI.
“This distribution reflects our vision to be closer to the people while supporting the educational development of our communities,” Mr Franck said.
Beneficiaries included nearly 100 students from public primary schools 1, 2, and 3 in Toguéhi, spanning first and second-year elementary pupils (CE1 and CE2) and first and second-year middle school students (CM1 and CM2).
The kits comprised backpacks, reading, mathematics, and science books, as well as notebooks and geometric sets, providing essential learning materials for the academic year.
The distribution ceremony was attended by educational and administrative officials, as well as parents of the students, highlighting the collaborative spirit of the event.
It served as the culmination of a week-long celebration marking TPGCI’s ivory wedding anniversary, which began on September 10 with a maracana tournament, followed by a tree-planting initiative and a conference.
The festivities concluded with an Open Day on September 23, engaging the wider community in the milestone celebrations.
“This initiative demonstrates that public institutions can play an active role in supporting education while fostering closer ties with citizens,” Mr Franck added, emphasizing the importance of community-oriented programs.
The event also underscored the role of civic engagement in Côte d’Ivoire’s rural areas, where access to educational resources remains a key challenge.
By providing these kits, the Public Treasury hopes to encourage school attendance, improve learning outcomes, and reinforce the message that government institutions can contribute meaningfully to local development.
