In a significant show of solidarity, the Autonomous District of Comoé distributed food and non-food items to 100 vulnerable households across the Sud-Comoé region on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.
The assistance, valued at approximately five million CFA francs, aims to alleviate the hardships faced by the most disadvantaged families in the area.
Sylvain Bidi, Director General of the District Administration, explained that the initiative reflects the personal commitment of the Minister-Governor, Pascal Kouakou Abinan, to support the district’s most vulnerable citizens.
“This action demonstrates our dedication to social welfare and our determination to assist those who need it most,” he said.
Beneficiaries were identified in coordination with social protection services and the regional directorate for Women, Families, and Children, ensuring that the aid reached those most in need.
Yao Kouadio, speaking on behalf of the recipients, expressed heartfelt appreciation: “This support relieves our difficulties and restores hope,” he said.
The regional prefect, Légré Koukougnon, who also serves as the prefect of the Aboisso department, praised the initiative as “an action of great social significance.”
He thanked the Minister-Governor for his commitment to the disadvantaged, noting the positive impact such interventions have on local communities.
This distribution in Aboisso forms part of a broader social assistance program planned for the entire Autonomous District of Comoé.
Similar activities are scheduled to take place in the Moronou and Indénié-Djuablin regions, with the aim of extending support to more vulnerable households across the district.
The initiative highlights the district’s ongoing efforts to provide targeted social aid and strengthen community welfare.
By addressing immediate needs through food and essential supplies, the program seeks not only to relieve hardship but also to foster hope and resilience among families facing economic difficulties.
With continued commitment from local authorities and coordinated efforts between social services and regional administrations, Comoé’s program is emerging as a model of responsive, community-focused support in the Ivory Coast.
