The Ministry of Health and Population has intensified its oversight of primary care services with a series of unannounced visits to health facilities across Cairo Governorate, aiming to enhance service quality and accelerate digital transformation in the sector.
According to Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, the inspections were conducted by the Primary Care and Family Development Sector in accordance with the directives of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population.
The visits included several key facilities: the Court Medical Center, the New Nozha Medical Center, and the Saqr Quraish Medical Center.
The objective was to assess adherence to healthcare quality standards, evaluate the integration of automated systems, and ensure patient safety protocols are being met. Technical support was also provided to the medical teams during the visits to support operational efficiency.
Dr. Rasha Khader, Head of the Primary Care and Family Development Sector, praised the dedication of the medical teams.
She emphasized that the field visits are integral to the sector’s broader performance monitoring plan and supervisory framework, both of which are aligned with the ministry’s digital transformation strategy.
“Automating primary healthcare is a cornerstone of system reform,” Dr. Khader stated. “It enhances the accuracy, efficiency, and traceability of services while allowing for evidence-based medical decisions and continuous patient monitoring.”
One of the outcomes of the visits was a set of immediate recommendations.
Notably, the Court Medical Center was urged to improve its general hygiene standards and allocate an additional room for its overcrowded family medicine clinic. The center has seen a surge in patient numbers, leading to service delays and pressure on staff.
A high-level coordination meeting followed the field tour, attended by Dr. Khader; Dr. Hamouda El-Gazzar, Head of Cairo’s Health Affairs Sector; Dr. Iman Haroun, Undersecretary for Preventive Affairs; and supervisory staff from Nozha and Court centers.
The discussions focused on streamlining the implementation of electronic medical records, refining data accuracy, and addressing technical issues hindering the full rollout of digital systems.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to sustained improvement in healthcare delivery, with digital solutions at the core of efforts to offer citizens a more reliable and responsive health experience.
