Guinea’s prime minister sends ministers nationwide to promote draft constitution

In a letter addressed to the cabinet and accompanied by a detailed deployment table, the Prime Minister underscored the importance of direct engagement with citizens to explain the contents of the proposed Constitution and collect feedback.
“The objective is to enable a close dialogue with the grassroots population, to present the content of the text submitted to the referendum, and to gather the perceptions and expectations expressed across the country,” the letter reads.
Bah Oury emphasized that the government has a collective responsibility to ensure that all Guineans understand the significance of the draft Constitution.
“It is our collective duty to ensure a broad understanding of the content of this founding text, by facilitating its appropriation by populations throughout the national territory,” he stated.
He added that ministers have been assigned to specific administrative regions to ensure full national coverage during the awareness campaign.
“It is in this spirit that a distribution of the members of the Government was carried out by administrative regions, in order to ensure national coverage of the campaign to popularize the draft Constitution.”
The deployment schedule indicates that ministers are expected to leave for their assigned regions on Thursday, July 17 and Friday, July 18, 2025, with a return set for Tuesday, July 22.
Prime Minister Bah Oury also urged ministers to take the mission seriously and to engage in inclusive dialogue. He called on them to “coordinate your actions with the administrative, religious and customary authorities and local forces, in a spirit of openness, respect and responsibility.”
The awareness campaign comes at a critical juncture for Guinea, as the country prepares for a referendum that could reshape its political future.
