Guinea’s Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy, Fatima Camara, has been hailed as a standout voice at the 3rd edition of the Women Summit, held in Casablanca, Morocco, under the banner “Innovating Together: Women Driving Change in Africa.”
Representing Guinea at the high-profile continental gathering, Minister Camara co-led the panel on “Inclusive & Transformational Leadership,” where she offered an in-depth look at Guinea’s ongoing reforms in the fisheries and maritime sectors.
Her remarks spotlighted both the structural improvements made under her tenure and targeted measures to elevate the role of women in traditionally male-dominated industries.
Among the key achievements she presented was the landmark $128 million in funding secured for the ambitious Kounki Project—an initiative designed to bolster economic opportunities within the fisheries sector while reinforcing environmental and social sustainability.
Her compelling contribution to the summit did not go unrecognised.
Minister Camara was awarded the prestigious Ubuntu Award, an accolade given to African leaders who demonstrate exceptional commitment to sustainable development, inclusive governance, and women’s empowerment.
