Taliby Dabo, a prominent figure within Guinea’s RPG Arc-en-ciel party and recently suspended and banned from representing the party by its National Political Bureau, has declared his mission to “wake up” the party following a prolonged period of inactivity since the coup of September 5, 2021,
Asserting that the RPG has stagnated with meetings and assemblies no longer held regularly and that as an activist and leader it is his duty to help revive the movement while addressing the suspension imposed by the transitional authorities and responding to calls from grassroots activists who rely on his capacity to mobilize in order to prevent the party’s collapse
Dabo explained that he submitted grievances to the authorities, who have agreed to permit political activities at the grassroots level so as to regularize the RPG’s status according to the party charter, emphasizing that “the grassroots level is innocent” and that his efforts focus on informing, raising awareness, and documenting the party’s current difficulties, while stressing that the suspension reflects the party’s failure to comply with political party regulations and ministry requirements
On the subject of the National Political Bureau’s legitimacy, Taliby Dabo categorically rejected its authority, calling it “illegal” and claiming its mandate expired decades ago, adding “An office is not just a name; it is a way of functioning, an ability to solve problems, to be at the side of the grassroots” and criticizing the bureau for failing to operate effectively, asserting that “it exists only in name” and thus has no right to govern or make decisions
Dabo also accused the party’s founder and president, Alpha Condé, of orchestrating his sanction without following party statutes, lamenting that “If he himself does not respect the rules, why ask others to do so?” and affirming that all members must abide by the internal regulations regardless of rank
Despite the sanctions, Taliby Dabo remains resolute, warning that “We’re going to sweep away all those political leaders who are content to make speeches and decisions without being able to mobilize twenty people” and rejecting any return to opposition, declaring “We will not fall back into opposition: it is strictly forbidden” as he pledges to fight for the RPG’s resurgence and support a candidate capable of restoring the party to power regardless of ethnicity or background, promising that the party “will choose its candidate” and that no one will prevent their political comeback
