GOL airlines strengthens African market presence through partnership with Royal Air Maroc
Brazilian low-cost carrier GOL Linhas Aéreas has expanded its reach into Africa through a strategic codeshare agreement with Royal Air Maroc (RAM).
The collaboration connects South America and Africa via São Paulo and Casablanca, offering customers enhanced travel options across both continents.
The agreement allows GOL and RAM to provide seamless travel experiences for passengers flying internationally between São Paulo and Casablanca, as well as domestically within Morocco.
RAM’s network includes key destinations such as Marrakech, Agadir, Tangier, Fes, Oujda, Nador, Ouarzazate, Laayoune, Errachidia, and Dakhla, according to a joint statement from the airlines.
Expanding Global Networks
Passengers flying with RAM can now access GOL’s extensive network of Brazilian cities, including Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, and Porto Alegre.
GOL, in turn, will offer interline flights to over 20 African destinations through RAM’s network, broadening its reach on the continent.
Celso Ferrer, GOL’s CEO, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating: “We are proud to contribute to strengthening ties between Brazil and Morocco.
This strategic agreement with Royal Air Maroc opens up new destinations in Morocco and Africa for our customers.”
Similarly, RAM’s CEO, Abdelhamid Addou, emphasized the significance of the collaboration: “This partnership represents a major step forward in addressing the growing demand in African and Latin American markets.
It enhances our network and provides passengers with exciting travel opportunities across Morocco, Africa, and Brazil.”
Enhanced Passenger Benefits
The codeshare agreement offers travelers a streamlined experience, including simplified booking, single-ticket purchases in local currencies, baggage check-through, and protection on connecting flights.
Frequent flyers will soon enjoy mutual benefits from GOL’s Smiles program and RAM’s Safar Flyer program.
Royal Air Maroc currently operates three weekly direct flights between São Paulo and Casablanca using Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
Meanwhile, GOL provides access to 65 airports across Brazil, ensuring extensive connectivity for passengers from both airlines.
The partnership is expected to grow further, with plans to expand the codeshare network to additional destinations in Africa and South America, enriching the travel experience for customers and bolstering ties between the two regions.
